Choke Saver Training

Learning how to recognize someone is choking, and knowing the correct techniques to alleviate choking can be a lifesaving skill. Woman Choking

Our Choke Saver course is approximately 2 hours and will show how to identify someone who is choking, techniques to manage choking emergencies in conscious and unconscious Adults, Children, and Infants. We discuss what questions a 9-1-1 dispatcher will be asking, and help the dispatcher may provide in this and other emergencies. We also touch on the legal considerations that come with providing aid.

As a reminder, Choke Saver training is required for many Massachusetts restaurants and suggested for all.

Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 94, § 305 D, each food service establishment having a seating capacity of 25 persons or more shall: (1) Have on its premises, while food is being served, an employee trained in manual procedures approved by the Department to remove food lodged in a person’s throat; and (2) Make adequate provisions for insurance to cover employees trained in rendering such assistance.

Classes are taught by AHA CPR/AED/First Aid Instructors and EMT Instructors.

On successful completion of the class you will receive a certificate valid for two years.

Pricing: $39.00/pp. Classes are scheduled regularly at our Woburn training center or private classes can be arranged. Classes of six or more taught at your site! Onsite classes available in both English and Spanish.
